We're Thijmen and Stef — two brothers who got tired of choosing between screens and the outdoors. So we built something that brings both together. This is Le Mare Ops, and this is why we built it.
We grew up in a house full of energy with four brothers and our two parents, there was never a dull moment. Thijmen is the oldest, then Koen, then me (Stef), and Huib is the youngest. Thijmen and I are the ones running Le Mare Ops, but this whole thing carries all of us in it.
Growing up, we loved being outside, building fires, climbing, getting our hands dirty, doing the kind of stuff that makes your mom worry. But we were just as happy locked into a Minecraft server playing till is was way to late.
At some point we realized: why does it have to be one or the other? Gaming and being outside, screens and real life, what if you could combine the best of both?
We also noticed something else. A lot of fun activities cost way too much. Want to go to a trampoline park? That's already €15 per person. Karting? Even more. It adds up fast, and for a lot of families and groups of friends, that's a real barrier to just spending time together.
And that's the other thing we kept running into — how easy it's become to drift apart. Within families, friend groups, even between brothers. Everyone's on their phone, everyone's busy, and connection just slowly slips away. We've felt that too.
So we built Le Mare Ops to fix both things at once: bring people together, get them outside, get them moving — without it costing a fortune. Real guns, real game modes, real competition, at a price that means anyone can join in.
The whole family
That's a question we've actually asked ourselves. We're both Christians, and our faith is the foundation of everything we do, including this business. So we asked ourselves: if Jesus was standing right next to us while we ran this company, would we still do it the same way?
That question shaped a lot of decisions. Here's what it means in practice:
10% of our profit goes straight to organizations doing good in the world. That's not an afterthought, it's part of the plan from day one.
No hidden fees, no fine print designed to trip you up. We believe in fair pricing and treating people the way we'd want to be treated.
If something's not right, we'll make it right. We're not happy until you are.
If you really want to do this but money's tight, talk to us. We've set aside a fund specifically for situations like that. A kid's birthday shouldn't be ruled out because of a budget.
